THE OLD TIMERS REPORT

FOR THE MEMBERS OF THE DELAWARE COUNTY FIELD & STREAM ASSOCIATION.

The Old Timers League Went Trapshooting

The shoot started in April and ended in June. Everyone shot their best shot guns and trust me there were many different makes and models being used. There were no separate classes everyone shot at 25 clay birds from the same distance each Monday. The scoring was done by what is known as Lewis Class from the lowest score up. Sorry I can not explain this scoring. Again the shoot took place every Monday starting around 11 AM for 5 weeks.

Of the 15 entries 11 shooters competed for the full 5 weeks. The conditions were typical weather for this time of the year rain, rain and more rain. There were three rain outs and a holiday so it took 9 weeks to complete the shoot. The competition was close and not so close depending on one’s ability at this sport; again there were individual rivalries. Each contestant kept a keen eye on their competition and the scoring. Some heckling could be heard and was expected. Equipment was checked very closely. One contestant who will go unnamed (Initials B.B.) came up behind one of his fellow shooters on the last day of competition to ask if something flew off their gun, this shooter will also go unnamed (Initials B.F.). I am sure this was not meant to unsettle that shooter but an honest effort (???) to help that shooter better compete.

The final standings are as follows:

High Overall Winner:

Rudy Giarrocco

Lewis Class Winners:

Don Kaigan

Ron Hazel

Bud Feindt

No scores are being posted out of respect for everyone involved. If you really want to know check the bulletin board in the club house next to the soda machine

The decision has been made to shoot Air Rifle for the next 5 weeks. More details at the start of the next shoot June 15, 2009.
